2026 Pilot
One month, a house in the mountains, and a group of people who left as close friends. Looking back on our first pilot.
June 12 – July 12, 2026 | Fujimi, Nagano
We started with a simple idea: build a physical home in the mountains where trail runners could come together to live, train, and become a community.
We opened applications in April, and the response floored us. Over 60 people from more than 20 countries applied in a matter of weeks. It was the first real sign that we weren't the only ones who wanted this.
Our final cohort was 12 people from more than 8 countries, spanning every level of trail running, mountain, and Japan experience. For one month, we made a villa in Fujimi, Nagano home. We ran together, climbed together, shared meals, swapped stories, and learned from one another. Not just about the mountains, but about life beyond them.
We could never have imagined how close this group would become. It happened because everyone showed up with openness, generosity, and a genuine desire to build something bigger than themselves. Together we laid the first stones of a community we're incredibly proud of.
The pilot is over, but this is only the beginning. We've got plenty planned for the rest of the summer, with events, community runs, and new ways to get involved. To everyone who was part of it: thank you. You made Goodpace what it is.

In their words
This might sound strange, but [the best part was] the laughter and the ease that we all found with each other.
Goodpace won't always tell you how to do things. It gives you the time, space and people to see things from a different perspective.
I feel a deeper connection to mountains. Learned a lot about technical techniques and the preparation needed to plan a trek. Learned how much I love being in the mountains! I feel much more capable and inspired to plan more treks myself. Pushing myself a lot over the month taught me about my capability and potential as well. And meeting such a diverse group also taught me a lot about connecting with new people.
[The Goodpace community looks] like home. A space where you are welcome as you are, whatever level you might be, and it is more about your engagement rather than your previous experiences.
I got on really well with everyone, and that was one of the biggest highlights: to now have friends from all over the world.
Get ready to have a ton of fun, make new friends and learn more about the mountains, all whilst living a healthy and fit lifestyle.
